my sole concern with materials is finding something that’s perfectly clear, not fog up too badly, and still let me move easily/not be too stiff (and can be sewn without breaking my sewing machine)
most clear plastics/vinyls are not for apparel though so it’s a bit of a quest
what a great idea for a cosplay! i look forward to seeing what you come up with :D

this should be a relatively simple pattern. it looks like it’s seven pieces: the front left, the front right, the collar, left sleeve, right sleeve, back left, back right.
right now the problem is going to be fitting it: there are no outseams (just leg inseams, the front zipper seam, the back gathering, the back seam, the collar, the sleeve inseam, and that’s it) and the garment joins at the front and back so there’s no hip seam, which is a problem when you need to add darts to account for hips and boobs like i do. right now i’m thinking i’ll use more gathering in the back, raise it to my natural waist, and use elastic to help it fit.
the other problem is going to be working with the material: i have never in my life tried to work with a plastic or vinyl in this quantity for such a major project, and i’m a good seamstress but the challenge of getting all that stitching perfect when it’s so visible is intimidating. plastic/vinyl doesn’t have much stretch and it’s not a forgiving material to work with.
but i’m excited, i think that once i start drafting the pattern and trying mock-ups it’ll come along nicely.
